President confers national teachers award in virtual ceremony

5th September is celebrated as teacher’s Day every year to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was an Indian Philosopher, academic and served as the first vice- president of India and second president of Independent India.

The “National Teachers Day” of 2020 is celebrated virtually due to the ongoing pandemic issues all over the globe. On this auspicious occasion, a virtual program was conducted by the  Ministry of education.

President Ramnath Kovind awarded teachers for their valuable contribution towards the education field and society as a whole.

A total of 47 teachers were chosen for the award from across the nation, after a regular transparent process of screening, This award is conferred every year to celebrate the success and their contribution in the field of education and lives of their students. This year the award ceremony was conducted via video conferencing and the candidates appeared before the jury via video conference.
