India to build underwater Tunnel

India is now ready with a hardcore plan and a definite strategic move to retaliate the Chinese counterpart by constructing an underwater tunnel below the mighty Brahmaputra River near China border.

According to reports, the Central Government has given in-principal approval to construct a strategic tunnel below the Brahmaputra river which will give all-weather connectivity between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

The four-lane tunnel connecting Gohpur and Numaligarh towns in Assam would be situated near the China border and will help in the rapid movement of military transport and supplies. The transport vehicles would be able to cruise at a speed of 80 Km/h while using this tunnel.

The construction of around 15 km long tunnel is expected to be begun by December this year. The project will be executed by the  National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHAIDCL) along with Louis Berger and, will be built in three phases.
